The Brown Thrasher

The brown thrasher is in the same family as the catbird and mockingbird, whose singing styles have similarities. It is a handsome chestnut brown bird that spends much of its time near the ground in the underbrush when it isn’t singing on a high perch.

It’s song is one of the joys of summer, and a delightful contrast to the repetitive phrasing of many other birds.
